The Royal Conservatory (RCM) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ARC Ensemble. This is a unique opportunity to join a world-renowned music education institution and contribute to the success of this esteemed ensemble.
Main Responsibilities:- Oversee the implementation of the ARC Ensemble's mission and vision, in collaboration with the Artistic Director and the President's Office.
- Coordinate rehearsals, recordings, and performances, ensuring seamless logistics and technical requirements.
- Book travel and accommodation for national and international touring, ensuring efficient and cost-effective arrangements.
- Assist the Artistic Director in artistic and strategic planning, providing valuable insights and expertise.
- Plan and facilitate the logistics for the production of two annual ARC Ensemble concerts in the Mazzoleni Masters concert series.
- Support the Artistic Director in outreach efforts to secure local and international performance dates, including contracting and fee negotiation.
- Monitor and respond to correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage the website and social media channels of the ARC Ensemble, collaborating with the Artistic Director to promote the ensemble's activities and projects.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to develop and realize the ARC Ensemble's communications plan for each season.
- Research and follow up on potential engagements with series and festival presenters.
- Oversee budgets and process expenses and invoices to AP, ensuring accurate and timely financial management.
- Identify and develop potential funding and sponsorship opportunities, working closely with the Development department and RCM Board Members.
- Support the integration of ARC and RCM projects, consulting with the Artistic Director and the GGS Assistant Dean, Academics.
- Act as a liaison for the inclusion of GGS students and Rebanks Fellows in ARC's performances and recordings.
- Support the Artistic Director in preparing news and PR releases, providing valuable input and expertise.
- Research, draft, and prepare fundraising proposals and grant applications for touring, performance, and recording opportunities.
- Handle the submissions process for ARC recordings to be considered for potential GRAMMY and Juno award nominations.
- Bachelor's degree in music or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of performing arts administration and/or management experience in the arts and culture/performance sector.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ease and comfort in meeting and working with visiting personalities, professionals in the industry, sponsors, recording and broadcast companies, film distributors, and government agencies.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Possesses solid analytical and research skills, with the ability to solve problems and think critically.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with various social media platforms.
- This is a part-time, 12-month contract, with a commitment of approximately 25 hours per week.
- The role will be based in the RCM's building in Toronto, Ontario, with some flexibility for remote work.
- Availability to support events during evenings and weekends is required, as well as some involvement in off-site performances and in-house events.
