About the Opportunity

The Royal Conservatory of Music is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented General Manager, ARC Ensemble to oversee the day-to-day functions of the ensemble, coordinate external performance engagements and tours, and serve as a strategic advisor to the Artistic Director.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between the RCM and the Artistic Director to implement the mission and vision of the RCM's Ensemble in Residence.
  • Schedule rehearsals, recordings, and performances, liaising with ensemble members, guest musicians, and internal stakeholders to secure rehearsal times, spaces, and technical requirements.
  • Book travel and accommodation for national and international touring.
  • Assist the Artistic Director with artistic and strategic planning on a 3-year term.
  • Support the Artistic Director with outreach to secure local and international performance dates, including contracting and fee negotiation.
  • Manage the website and social media channels of the ARC Ensemble in collaboration with the Artistic Director to promote the ensemble's activities and projects.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to develop and realize the ensemble's communications plan for each season.
  • Input and oversee budgets in collaboration with the Artistic Director, and process expenses and invoices to AP.
  • Support integration of ARC and RCM projects in consultation with the Artistic Director and the GGS Assistant Dean, Academics.
  • Act as a liaison for the inclusion of GGS students and Rebanks Fellows in ARC's performances and recordings.
  • Support the Artistic Director by providing input, drafting, and reviewing news and PR releases.
  • Research, draft, and prepare fundraising proposals and grant applications for touring, performance, and recording opportunities as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in music or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of performing arts administration and/or management experience in the arts and culture/performance sector.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Possesses solid analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience with various social media platforms.
Additional Information
  • A part-time, 12-month contract with a commitment of approximately 25 hours per week.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with the RCM's building in Toronto, Ontario.
  • Availability to support events during evenings and weekends is required.
  • Some involvement to work at off-site performances as well as in-house events as required.
