About the Opportunity

The Royal Conservatory of Music is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ARC Ensemble. Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations of the Glenn Gould School, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing the ensemble's performances, tours, and recordings.

This is a part-time, 12-month contract position that requires approximately 25 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performing arts administration and management, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate rehearsals, recordings, and performances, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality outcomes.
  • Manage the ensemble's budget, including financial planning, budgeting, and expense tracking.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to promote the ensemble's activities and events.
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to plan and execute the ensemble's artistic vision and goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including donors, patrons, and industry professionals.
  • Manage the ensemble's website and social media presence, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Research and identify potential funding and sponsorship opportunities to support the ensemble's activities.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the ensemble's success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in music or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of performing arts administration and/or management experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
