As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, the Cardiac Care Nurse will be entrusted with the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of patient care within cardiac surgical services. Your decisions will be made in partnership with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
Role Overview:
In your capacity as a Cardiac Care Nurse (RN), you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Your responsibilities will include utilizing nursing methodologies through critical thinking, problem-solving, and informed decision-making. Additionally, you will provide education, support, and advocacy for patients and their families.
As a leader in patient care, you will champion an integrated and holistic approach to health promotion and maintenance. Your commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care will reflect the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must have completed an accredited nursing education program and possess an active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is also required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of specified courses is necessary.
Additional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional assessment, organizational, and patient care abilities. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with the capacity to convey findings clearly and accurately. You should exhibit initiative, adaptability, and independence within a team environment, and be prepared to engage in Unit/Program/Site/Zone/Provincial activities as needed. Availability for on-call duties is required, and a minimum of full-time work in the Cardiac OR within the last year is essential. A perioperative course certificate is also mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred, enhancing your qualifications for this challenging and rewarding position.
