Critical Care Registered Nurse

Your Opportunity:
The Alberta Health Services Critical Care Program is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary care team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in our General Systems Intensive Care Unit, you will provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma, often with multisystem involvement. You will care for patients requiring continuous and intermittent renal replacement for acute and chronic failure. The successful candidate will provide patient and family-centered care to patients undergoing liver transplant as well as kidney/pancreas transplants. Description:
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Previous experience within an ICU setting, observation room, inpatient trauma, or experience with ventilated patients is preferred. Certifications, training, or experience with the following are preferred: ACLS, TNCC, CNA Critical Care Certification, intermittent hemodialysis and/or CRRT, cardiac rhythm analysis, Pacemakers, Cardioversion/Defibrillation, Emergency Cardiac Arrest Management, External Ventricular Devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
