Judicial Support Officer

The Government of Nova Scotia is looking for a committed professional to fill the role of Judicial Support Officer. This position involves overseeing and facilitating court sessions, assisting the Judiciary, and serving as a bridge between the Court and various parties involved. Key responsibilities encompass administrative tasks, performing quasi-judicial functions, and guiding new personnel.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee and facilitate court sessions
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Judiciary
  • Serve as a clerk across all court levels
  • Guide and train new personnel
  • Draft and prepare judicial orders
  • Transcribe court proceedings
  • Leverage technology for remote court sessions
  • Assist with administrative court functions
  • Produce and manage judicial decisions
  • Offer administrative support to judges

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary qualification in a relevant discipline and a minimum of five years of experience within a legal context. Proficiency in typing, data management, and Microsoft Office applications is essential. Strong organizational and communication abilities are crucial, along with the capacity to perform effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines. Familiarity with court protocols and legal terminology is required.
