Full Time Opportunity
Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Administrator at Mon Sheong Foundation, the successful candidate will be tasked with directing, organizing, and overseeing the nursing and personal care services within the facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The Head of Resident Care Services will manage both clinical and administrative functions, striving to enhance the quality of care for residents while adhering to budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest quality of resident care and overall well-being through the development and implementation of effective care plans, appropriate staffing, and the management of necessary resources.
- Advocate for and deliver resident-centered care in alignment with the Residents' Bill of Rights.
- Ensure that professional practice standards are effectively communicated, implemented, and monitored in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
- Lead the execution and evaluation of essential clinical programs, including Falls Prevention, Skin and Wound Care, Continence Management, Pain Control, and Behavioral Health.
- Oversee all human resources functions within the nursing and personal care department, including recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Facilitate the training, mentoring, and development of nursing staff, implementing improvement plans as necessary.
- Engage in the accreditation process to uphold quality standards.
- Foster positive relationships among residents, families, staff, volunteers, and the broader community.
- Regularly assess staffing strategies and financial performance to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a valid certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Membership with the Gerontological Nursing Association (GNA) and the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) is preferred.
- Current certification in CPR (Health Care Provider Level C) and First Aid.
- Advanced education in nursing administration and management; preference for a BScN or a business degree in health management, particularly in long-term care, along with further studies in gerontology, geriatrics, or rehabilitation.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a healthcare environment.
- Collaborative team player with a strong focus on customer service, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Exhibits compassionate and respectful behavior, with strong clinical, assessment, conflict resolution, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in both oral and written English.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is advantageous.
- Relevant computer skills are essential.
