Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the execution and assessment of nursing department initiatives and operations.
- Lead the coordination and application of best practices and risk management strategies related to resident care.
- Manage the utilization of nursing supplies effectively.
- Maintain a systematic approach to care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at both the resident and unit program levels.
- Actively mentor staff while ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care.
- Initiate investigative and corrective measures concerning occupational health and safety; collaborate on WSIB claims and return-to-work strategies.
- Participate in special projects, reviews, and other initiatives as required.
- Assume overall responsibility for the nursing department.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- A genuine passion for providing care to seniors.
- Proven experience in WSIB management and other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.
- Familiarity with falls and harm reduction strategies is an asset.
- Previous experience in long-term care is advantageous, with a thorough understanding of relevant duties.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent comprehension abilities.
- Developed problem-solving skills with a focus on comprehensive solutions.
