Job Summary:

The Director of Resident Care will lead the nursing and personal care services at Mon Sheong Home for the Aged, ensuring high standards of resident care and quality of life. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain care plans that meet the needs of residents, ensuring a high standard of care and quality of life.
  • Supervise and manage nursing services, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of care.
  • Implement and monitor clinical programs, such as falls prevention, skin and wound care, and pain management, to improve resident outcomes.
  • Lead the recruitment, orientation, and performance management of nursing staff, ensuring a skilled and motivated team.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff.
  • Participate in the CARF Accreditation process to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and the community.
  • Monitor and review staffing plans and financial performance to maintain a balanced budget.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current membership with the Gerontological Nursing Association (GNA) and Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) is desirable.
  • Possession of valid CPR (Health Care Provider Level C) and First Aid certificates.
  • Post-RN education in nursing administration and management, preferably with a BScN and/or business degree in health management.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership, initiative, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Excellent clinical, assessment, conflict management, communication, and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
  • Relevant computer literacy.
