Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, the successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care to adult and pediatric populations in our day surgery program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Practice patient-centered care to ensure patient safety and well-being, including providing care in a compassionate and culturally sensitive manner
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide care in accordance with infection control and prevention measures
  • Provide health teaching and education to patients and families, including discharge instructions and continuity of care
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Recent experience in medical/surgical nursing, with a minimum of two years of experience required
  • Certification in IV therapy and phlebotomy, with experience in transfusion medicine an asset
  • Strong knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team
  • Knowledge of patient and family-centered care, with experience in health teaching and education an asset
  • Leadership and facilitation skills, with ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions
  • Excellent physical assessment skills, with ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment, with excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record
