Reporting directly to a Director, your responsibilities will include planning, developing, executing, and reporting on assigned projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget while complying with corporate and client procedural guidelines. The projects you undertake, including renovations, installations, and new constructions, will typically be complex and of significant financial value. As a Senior Project Manager, you may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends, coordinating with other project delivery team members on various programs, projects, or large-scale initiatives.
The variety of projects managed by the Design and Project Delivery Services team across diverse sectors—retail, commercial, institutional, and industrial—presents an exciting opportunity to engage with different construction methodologies, manage a wide array of stakeholder interests, and continually expand your expertise. You will be part of a Project Management team that delivers services throughout all project phases, from workplace planning to pre-construction and design development, to construction management. With over 4,500 projects managed annually, a team of 160+ members, and over $450 million delivered each year, our group handles projects across Canada, ranging from minor infrastructure upgrades to major consolidations and new builds, as well as energy retrofits and critical environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
For the projects assigned to you:
Project Management
- Oversee the comprehensive delivery of assigned projects, typically characterized by moderate to high complexity, risk, and exposure.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and requirements.
- Develop and execute project plans.
- Assess resource and budget needs, providing cost estimates and timelines.
- Identify project risks and formulate mitigation and contingency strategies.
- Monitor project progress against timelines, ensuring timely completion.
- Supervise project team members and track task completion.
- Communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, while adhering to all regulatory, environmental, and health and safety standards.
Client Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Address issues, manage client expectations, and ensure satisfaction.
Leadership
- May oversee project administration and coordination roles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- College or University degree in architectural technology, construction technology, engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
- Over 5 years of project management experience.
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with all requirements, including regulatory, environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Strong capability in developing and managing project budgets.
- Proficient in risk mitigation and management.
- Exceptional influencing, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Expertise in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
- Strong client service orientation.
- Proficient in managing vendor relationships and performance.
