Job Title: Medical Laboratory Assistant

Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collecting and processing laboratory specimens, including blood and tissue samples
  • Performing and explaining procedures for ECGs and special tests, such as glucose tolerance tests and sweat tests
  • Working in a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely test results
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to laboratory protocols and procedures
Requirements:
  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Laboratory Assistant Training Program
  • Certification with Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT), MLPAO, or Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
  • Minimum two years of technical training or experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital laboratory
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
