Position Overview

The Internal Communications Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing organizational communication within North Island College. Reporting to the Associate Director of Community and Public Affairs, this position is integral in crafting, producing, and refining content that effectively conveys the college's narrative to its internal stakeholders, including employees and students, as well as external partners and media.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Develops a wide range of written materials, ensuring clarity and engagement, while adhering to established style guidelines.
  • Media Relations: Engages with media representatives to foster positive relationships and enhance the college's visibility in the community.
  • Strategic Communication: Collaborates with various departments to align communication strategies with the college's mission and objectives.
  • Project Management: Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Storytelling: Utilizes various mediums, including print and digital platforms, to tell compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in communications or public relations, preferably within the education sector.
  • Proficient in multimedia production, including video and photography.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing environments.

Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across various formats.
  • Ability to translate complex information into accessible content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
