About the Role

The Communications and Marketing Officer contributes to the development, implementation, assessment, and ongoing enrichment of marketing and communications initiatives related to the Communications and Marketing portfolio.

The Officer assists in the development of the digital strategic plans, supports web and content development, provides guidance and support for digital communications and marketing materials and channels, and reports findings and recommendations for future improvement.

The Officer works as part of SFU's central Communications & Marketing team, in collaboration with other departments and faculties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement digital marketing and communications strategies to promote SFU's brand and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of digital strategic plans, including social media, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Support web and content development, including creating and editing content for SFU's website and other digital channels.
  • Provide guidance and support for digital communications and marketing materials and channels, including social media, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Report findings and recommendations for future improvement.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of communications, marketing, and digital campaign strategies.

They will have excellent knowledge of web design principles and current trends; web content management systems; and best practices for organizing and tagging content for optimal user experience and SEO.

Finally, they will have strong writing skills.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, marketing, or a relevant discipline.
  • Four years of related professional experience in social media, digital content creation, marketing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of communications, marketing, and campaign strategies, specifically digital C&M.
  • Excellent knowledge of web design principles and current trends; content management systems; and best practices for organizing and tagging content for the web environment.
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict-resolution, interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills.
