Part Time - Waste Management Station Operator
Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. is seeking a dedicated Part Time Waste Management Station Operator to become a vital member of our Public Works Team. The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the waste management station during weekend shifts, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations while meeting the needs of users in a safe and organized manner.
Department: Operations and Development
Division: Public Works
Reports To: Roads Supervisor
Hourly Rate: $29.23/hour
Weekly Hours: 8-10 hours
This position offers part-time employment with the opportunity to participate in the OMERS defined pension plan. A Criminal Record Check is mandatory for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide customers to the correct waste disposal areas and enforce station rules and regulations.
- Evaluate customer loads and apply appropriate fees in accordance with established guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the waste management station and keep accurate records of daily operations.
- Conduct thorough record-keeping, including Daily Site Inspection Reports, Complaint Reports, Incident Reports, and more.
- Adhere to all operational terms and conditions as per the Environmental Compliance Approval.
- Ensure the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory and in good condition.
- Conduct operations safely and securely, monitoring customer activities and enforcing all rules.
- Keep all outdoor areas of the station clear of ice and snow.
- Perform light maintenance tasks, including snow removal and salting.
- Follow all workplace policies and comply with provincial and federal health and safety regulations.
- Capable of lifting heavy items weighing between 50-60 pounds.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Roads Supervisor or Manager of Public Works.
- Minimum education of grade 10 or equivalent.
- Experience in Point of Sale systems and customer interaction.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Training in WHMIS.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the public.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with basic software applications and computerized equipment (e.g., cell phones, tablets, POS terminals).
- Availability to work on Saturdays.
