Community Justice Worker Overview

The Community Justice Worker plays a vital role in overseeing and implementing the Community Service Order Program for adults aged 18 and above. This position is essential in ensuring accountability through community-based sanctions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Lead and advocate for the Community Service Order Program
  • Collaborate with Probation Services and various community partners
  • Organize and manage community placement opportunities
  • Track and record the fulfillment of Community Service Hours
  • Act as a liaison with community organizations

Mentorship and Support

  • Guide and assist student placements and volunteers

Community Relations

  • Enhance awareness of the Community Service Order Program
  • Maintain relationships with community placement sites
  • Communicate effectively with Probation Services and community partners
  • Advocate for clients within community organizations

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare monthly reports and submissions
  • Assist in preparations for accreditation and evaluations
  • Handle referrals, intakes, and completions

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Serve as the certified representative for health and safety

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Work Environment:

  • This is a permanent full-time role
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential
  • Travel may be required for this position
  • Services are provided within designated regions

Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • Completion of two or more years at a Community College
  • Undergraduate degree in Social Services is preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver's License

Experience and Expertise:

  • Relevant experience in community programs
  • Experience working with adult populations
  • Familiarity with local area and community resources
  • Understanding of restorative justice principles
