Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resource Business Partner to join our team at Finning. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in shaping our company's future by aligning talent initiatives with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Partnership / Customer Service
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and general managers to develop and implement annual workforce plans, succession plans, and talent management strategies.
  • Partner with the Global Centers of Excellence to design and implement HR strategies, practices, processes, and programs that align with business priorities.
  • Provide counsel to the Finning leadership team on HR, workforce, and leadership matters.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Finning's business to effectively support business leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide guidance on labor and employment laws.
Labor Relations / Employee Relations
  • Coach and advise front-line managers on the interpretation and application of Collective Agreements and corporate policies.
  • Facilitate and support leadership through the investigation process, including investigation resolution, progressive discipline, and employee termination.
  • Assist leaders in addressing employee behavioral and performance concerns using performance management tools and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Liaise with local Union Business Representatives on labor relations matters.
Organizational Effectiveness
  • Partner with client groups to design succession plans for key talent and positions, identify training and development gaps, and support the identification of high-potential employees.
  • Assist leaders in developing Career Development Plans and coaching leaders on career development discussions.
  • Identify and evaluate changes in industry practices and business trends, and capitalize on opportunities to improve client operations, including team engagement and inclusion and diversity initiatives.
Human Resources Programs
  • Provide direction, guidance, and assistance in the successful execution of annual HR programs, including compensation planning, performance management, and talent reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for educating and communicating with Finning's people, such as presentations and project rollouts.
  • Provide feedback to the HR Centers of Excellence on the effectiveness of corporate programs and products.
Requirements
  1. Post-secondary education in human resources management, labor relations management, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of professional-level human resource generalist experience, working and collaborating with business leaders in a consultative capacity.
  3. Previous experience working with HRIS systems, with Workday experience considered an asset.
  4. HR designation (CPHR) or significant progress towards completion considered an asset.
  5. Experience working within a unionized heavy industrial environment is preferred.
