Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Carry out immediate interventions related to the management of unionized employees, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Human Resources Support: Advise and support companies in the areas of human resources management and operations, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Collective Agreement Administration: Administer all programs and provisions of the collective agreement, including administrative and disciplinary follow-up, ensuring compliance and fairness.
  • Manpower Deployment: Participate in manpower deployment activities to meet the operational needs of the various stevedoring companies, ensuring efficient and effective resource allocation.
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Investigations: Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into grievances and disciplinary matters, ensuring a fair and just process.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Ensure the updating of procedures and policies, and their dissemination to all stakeholders, ensuring a culture of compliance and excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Provide quality service to all stakeholders, including employees, management, and union representatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in committees provided for in the collective agreement, ensuring a collaborative and consultative approach to decision-making.
  • Interdepartmental Support: Provide support to other departments as required, ensuring a seamless and efficient service delivery.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
  • Experience: Between 1 and 5 years of experience in human resources or industrial relations.
  • Skills: Ability to work evenings and weekends, very good knowledge of the MS Office suite, possess a vehicle for travel, experience in the manufacturing and/or union field (asset), good knowledge of the Canada Labour Code (asset), professional designation CHRP or CIRC (asset).
  • Competencies: Proactive, critical thinking, sense of initiative, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills, autonomy and resourcefulness, organizational skills, ability to work in a collaborative environment.
