Position Overview

The role focuses on enhancing profitability and optimizing returns on invested capital through effective planning and execution. This includes serving clients, ensuring organizational stability, and fostering growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement strategies to achieve cost, quality, service, and reliability objectives outlined in the maintenance agenda.
  • Oversee and assess fleet and equipment operations to maximize investment returns and manage expenses. Analyze capacity and utilization to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Administer leases and contracts for fleet service providers, ensuring compliance with corporate standards while nurturing ongoing partnerships. Regularly update stakeholders on contract performance, costs, and risks.
  • Prepare status reports and program outcomes for senior management, advising on necessary program, policy, or contract modifications. Contribute significantly to safety initiatives related to fleet and equipment usage.
  • Design and implement training programs for technicians.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure effective support solutions are established.
  • Lead alignment efforts with operational teams to guarantee fleet reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Develop region-specific strategic plans aimed at enhancing fleet performance.
  • Identify and spearhead initiatives to address field business challenges and opportunities.
  • Engage with industry peers, professional organizations, and academic institutions to align with best practices and integrate them into operations.
  • Contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive workplace, promoting an environment free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Drivers Licensing requirements.
  • Understanding of Commercial Truck registration regulations in Canada.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with customers, operations, and external vendors.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and design efficient workflows.
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving issues promptly, gathering and analyzing data effectively.
  • Strong leadership qualities, capable of inspiring and motivating teams.
  • Experience in managing personnel, fostering growth, and improving processes.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a College Diploma or CET.
  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist or licensed mechanic preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the fleet industry.
  • Familiarity with Fleet Management Service providers and systems is advantageous.

Work Environment

  • Flexibility in work schedules is required.
  • Availability for on-call duties as needed.
  • The role involves both office and maintenance shop settings, overseeing a team of mechanics.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory as per task requirements.
  • Minimal travel outside the project scope, less than 10%.
