Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement strategies to achieve cost efficiency, quality service, and reliability as outlined in the maintenance framework.
- Oversee and assess fleet and equipment performance to optimize investment returns and manage expenses. Analyze capacity and utilization to enhance operational efficiency. Evaluate fleet requirements and manage programs to leverage volume and minimize costs where appropriate.
- Administer leases and contracts for fleet service providers, ensuring compliance with corporate standards while fostering strong vendor relationships. Keep stakeholders updated on cost, risk, and performance metrics.
- Prepare and present status reports and program outcomes to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for program, policy, and contract adjustments. Contribute significantly to safety initiatives related to fleet and equipment operations.
- Design and implement training programs for technicians.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure effective support solutions are established.
- Lead efforts to align operational teams towards achieving fleet reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Develop region-specific strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing fleet performance.
- Identify and spearhead initiatives to address field business challenges and opportunities.
- Engage with industry peers, professional associations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions to integrate best practices.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
- Execute all responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient negotiation capabilities.
- Knowledge of Commercial Drivers Licensing regulations.
- Understanding of Commercial Truck registration protocols in Canada.
- Strong relationship-building skills with customers, operations teams, and external suppliers.
- Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and design effective workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving issues promptly.
- Effective delegation skills, ensuring responsibilities are matched to the right individuals.
- Leadership qualities that inspire and motivate team members.
- Experience in managing personnel, facilitating planning, and fostering a quality-focused environment.
Educational Background and Experience
- Completion of a College Diploma or CET.
- Mechanical Engineering Technologist or licensed mechanic certification is advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the fleet industry.
- Familiarity with Fleet Management Service providers and systems is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Flexibility to work varied schedules.
- Availability for on-call duties as needed.
- Work setting includes both an office environment and a maintenance facility overseeing a team of mechanics.
- Compliance with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements as necessary.
- Minimal travel outside the project scope, less than 10%.
