Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor to join our Aquatics Team at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our members in the pool area.

Responsibilities
  • Lifeguarding:
    • Use your skills and knowledge to create a safe environment for all members
    • Enforce pool and club rules and regulations in a courteous and strict manner
    • Control the pool environment to prevent accidents and maintain a clean and tidy area
    • Perform daily maintenance tasks, including checking pool chemistry
    • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed
  • Swimming Instruction:
    • Teach swimming lessons to members of all ages and abilities in a fun and safe environment
    • Evaluate students to assess their skill level and adapt lesson plans accordingly
    • Prepare and deliver lesson plans, and participate fully in classes with students
    • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, participants, and the Aquatics Coordinator
Requirements
  • Certifications:
    • NLS (National Lifeguard Service)
    • CPR-C/AED
    • Standard First Aid
    • Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor
    • Life Saving Instructor (asset)
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 1 year lifeguarding/instructing experience
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
    • Proven ability to remain calm and think quickly in emergency situations
