Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and instruction of club members and guests using the aquatic facilities during swim lessons, general swim times, and special events
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed throughout the club
  • Teach swimming lessons to students of all ages
  • Perform maintenance and related work as required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • National Lifeguard Certification - Pool Option
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • Lifesaving Instructor and Aquafit Instructor (an asset)
  • Standard First Aid, CPR-C certification
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 - to be obtained within 3 months of employment
  • Sound knowledge of rules and regulations governing safety in an indoor aquatic facility
  • Minimum of 1-year experience instructing the Red Cross Swim Program or equivalent
  • Knowledge and practice of Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and First Aid
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of service situations in a busy aquatic facility
