Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Fort St. John Hospital. As a member of our team, you will work closely with the care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services for patients in the Emergency Department. Responsibilities * Provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including those with complex disease, acute/chronic disease management, mental health and substance use issues. * Demonstrate knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses, including malignancies/cancers, acute/chronic respiratory illness/disease, acute/chronic renal failure, acute/chronic hepatic failure, GI illness/diseases, chronic wounds, orthopedic injuries/conditions, and mental health and substance use issues. * Perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations, including cancer, supportive care, pain management, wound care, venipuncture, diabetes management, first aid, orthopedic injuries, pediatrics, mental health and substance use, and harm reductions strategies. * Make sound clinical judgments to provide safe and ethical patient care, manage conflict situations, and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques. * Document patient care on appropriate systems/forms in a timely and accurate manner. Requirements * Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care. * Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
