Job Overview
Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Senior Superintendent plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing site activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold the Magil safety program, fostering a jobsite safety culture through mentorship and exemplary behavior.
- Assist project teams in overcoming scheduling challenges and contribute to the formulation and execution of recovery strategies.
- Monitor project advancement to ensure compliance with performance, productivity, quality, and safety standards.
- Act as a liaison between clients, consultants, and trades when site team escalations are necessary.
- Supervise, guide, coach, train, and mentor project teams across various sites.
- Collaborate with teams to visualize the entirety of a project, identify critical paths in the project schedule, foresee constructability challenges, and integrate solutions into construction plans and timelines.
- Partner with the Site Superintendent and project management team to create and execute a comprehensive Project Execution Plan.
- Ensure timely scheduling, coordination, and effective cost management of project labor, equipment, and materials by site personnel.
- Stay informed about industry trends and pursue innovative construction techniques and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman certificate or a post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant field.
- Over 20 years of progressive experience in field supervision is preferred.
- Eligibility for project security clearances.
Core Competencies
- Analyze and comprehend contracts and subcontracts, assisting project teams in risk identification and mitigation while maximizing opportunities to achieve financial objectives.
- Grasp project scope and apply complex engineering principles to construction challenges, embedding solutions in construction plans and schedules.
- Conduct value engineering and delineate scope and limitations for pursuits.
- Possess a thorough understanding of contract language, identifying and mitigating risks while leveraging opportunities.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of safety and environmental principles, legislation, and the implementation of a robust safety culture.
- Mentor field staff effectively to lead site meetings with clients, consultants, trades, and internal teams.
- Capable of presenting at client meetings or during project pursuit activities.
- Exhibit expert understanding in managing general project requirements and effectively communicating this expertise to field staff.
Relevant Experience
- Proficient in scheduling, monitoring, and mentoring others in resource forecasting.
- Ability to manage field staff across multiple projects, coordinating all scopes of work.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the construction industry and company operations, including building materials, specifications, and methodologies.
- Experience in addressing grievance and employee relations issues.
