Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct engineering calculations utilizing empirical formulas from Classification Regulations and fundamental principles.
- Develop HVAC systems packages for ships, including diagrams, layouts, and calculations, adhering to industry standards and recognized marine criteria.
- Prepare packages for auxiliary machinery systems, including diagrams, layouts, and calculations, for submission to Classification Societies for review and approval.
- Design propulsion and power generation systems, conducting engineering studies and analyses that encompass support systems, energy optimization, emissions control, and environmental impacts.
- Apply knowledge of marine engineering and ship systems to ensure equipment functionality across various vessel types, including passenger, cargo, naval, and research vessels.
- Draft technical specifications for equipment procurement and installation.
- Establish testing and commissioning specifications and procedures.
- Support construction, commissioning, testing, and field evaluations.
- Review and assess vendor-supplied information from a technical standpoint.
- In addition to performing specific technical tasks, coordinate and oversee the work of other engineers and support staff in roles such as Technical Lead or Project Manager.
- Manage project aspects, including budget establishment, deadline setting, budget tracking, and project schedule coordination.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates to support departmental initiatives and business development.
- Conduct design checks and reviews to ensure quality control and assurance.
- Mentor and coach staff to enhance marine engineering competencies.
- Participate in research and development groups within the company.
Qualifications:
- A recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related engineering field.
- Five to ten years of experience in the shipbuilding or maritime industry, with a focus on HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in essential software programs, including MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with basic naval architecture concepts, vessel operations, safety, and ship maintenance.
