Location:

The role is based in our Calgary or Cochrane office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of FireSmart Community plans across British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Design and implement Emergency Exercises.
  • Facilitate and organize cross-training opportunities.
  • Oversee the execution of Vegetation Management projects.
  • Manage and supervise field crews.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Oversee project management tasks.
  • Supervise contractors.
  • Draft proposals and reports.

This position reports to the Forestry and Construction Operations Manager and requires a proactive, safety-oriented individual who takes pride in their contributions. You will collaborate with a diverse team of environmental professionals, with opportunities for career advancement in project management and business development.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing Community FireSmart plans.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Municipalities and/or Indigenous Communities.
  • Outdoor experience, including hiking and ATV usage.
  • Relevant environmental education, with the ability to register with AAFMP and ABCFP.
  • Willingness to work in various locations throughout Alberta and BC for shifts lasting up to 3 weeks.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta or BC Driver's License.

Preferred Skills and Training:

  • Familiarity with Esri-based field and office applications.
  • Background in fire or emergency response training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certifications to instruct fire response and/or safety courses.
  • Experience in developing Wildfire Threat Assessments using Prometheus and other models.
  • Technical writing capabilities.
  • Completion of safety training courses necessary for fieldwork in Alberta and BC.
