The Fire Operations Manager is a key role within Manitoba Conservation & Wildfire Services, responsible for overseeing the effective management of regional wildfire operations. This position requires a strong leader with expertise in wildfire prevention, detection, and suppression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of wildfire management professionals
  • Develop and implement regional wildfire management strategies
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to provide strategic advice and implement policies
  • Manage resources and budgets to ensure efficient and effective wildfire operations
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in wildfire management and emergency response

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized resource-based or emergency management program
  • Experience in wildfires and emergency management best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead staff
  • Financial management experience
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to provide strategic advice and implement policies

Working Conditions:

  • Willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Able to travel throughout Manitoba, including flying in small aircraft
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties
