The Fire Operations Manager is a key role within Manitoba Conservation & Wildfire Services, responsible for overseeing the effective management of regional wildfire operations. This position requires a strong leader with expertise in wildfire prevention, detection, and suppression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of wildfire management professionals
- Develop and implement regional wildfire management strategies
- Collaborate with senior leaders to provide strategic advice and implement policies
- Manage resources and budgets to ensure efficient and effective wildfire operations
- Provide training and development opportunities for staff
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in wildfire management and emergency response
Requirements:
- Graduate of a recognized resource-based or emergency management program
- Experience in wildfires and emergency management best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead staff
- Financial management experience
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to provide strategic advice and implement policies
Working Conditions:
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Able to travel throughout Manitoba, including flying in small aircraft
- Physically capable of performing assigned duties
