Position Location:

The role is based out of our Calgary or Cochrane office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of FireSmart Community plans in British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Design and implement Emergency Exercises.
  • Facilitate and/or develop cross-training opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and execution of Vegetation Management projects.
  • Manage and supervise field crews.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Oversee project management activities.
  • Supervise contractors.
  • Draft proposals for various projects.

This role reports to the Forestry and Construction Operations Manager and requires a self-driven, safety-oriented individual who takes pride in their work. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of environmental professionals and advance your career in project management and business development.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing Community FireSmart plans.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Municipalities and/or Indigenous Communities.
  • Experience in outdoor activities such as hiking and operating ATVs.
  • Relevant environmental education with the ability to register with AAFMP and ABCFP.
  • Willingness to work in various locations throughout Alberta and British Columbia for shifts lasting up to 3 weeks.
  • A valid Alberta or British Columbia Driver's License is required.

Additional Skills and Training:

  • Familiarity with Esri-based field and office products.
  • A combination of fire or emergency response training is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and certifications to instruct fire response and/or safety courses.
  • Experience in developing Wildfire Threat Assessments using Prometheus and other models.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Completion of safety training courses required for fieldwork in Alberta and British Columbia.
