As a Data Governance Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks that ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across our organization.

Your Impact
  • Develop and Refine Frameworks: Craft comprehensive data governance frameworks to enhance data quality and establish consistent data management practices throughout Scotiabank.
  • Implement Policies and Procedures: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data governance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Manage the Data Lifecycle: Guide the entire data lifecycle, encompassing classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to guarantee data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the Data Office, Data Stewards, and data owners to uphold data governance standards and resolve data-related challenges.
  • Leverage Technology: Utilize data governance tools to maintain data catalogs, track data lineage, and manage metadata, facilitating seamless access to valuable data assets.
  • Lead Initiatives: Spearhead data governance initiatives, collaborating with data stewards and business units to achieve data consistency and standardization.
Your Expertise
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in data governance frameworks and a deep understanding of data protection regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in SQL, data mining, and data observability best practices.
  • Ability to lead data governance initiatives and projects, including the development of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and reference data management.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and data governance tools.
  • Bilingualism in Spanish/English is an asset.
