The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality, and data management best practices. They should be able to develop and implement effective data governance solutions tailored to HarperCollins' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data owners and custodians to establish and refine data governance processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses across various data domains to document current data flows, identify potential data silos, redundancies, and inconsistencies. Propose solutions to address these issues.
  • Lead data governance committees for different domains to ensure alignment of data definitions and maintain consistent schemas.
  • Work closely with data owners and cross-functional teams to document comprehensive data inventories, definitions, and data mappings for integrations and establish data quality rules.
  • Partner with technology groups to implement governance solutions, standards, controls, and validations within various source applications.
  • Develop and maintain robust data quality standards and metrics.
  • Monitor compliance with established data governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, or a related data field.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and database design with the ability to write and execute complex SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of metadata management tools and data catalogs for implementing governance policies and tracking data lineage, data ownership, and documenting glossaries and definitions.
  • Understanding of data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools to ensure data consistency and integrity across different systems and applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies such as SQL Server, Big Query, Azure Synapse, Power BI among others.
  • Experience in project management, business analysis, or a related field.
