About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Data Architect, Data Governance Specialist to join our Service Management Technology team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and managing Scotia ServiceNow platform foundational data, ensuring it meets regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set Data Standards and Taxonomy: Establish and maintain standards, taxonomy, and naming conventions for Scotia ServiceNow foundational data, engaging data stewards to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Implement CSDM Framework: Implement platform foundational data in accordance with the Configuration Item (CI) Management framework, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Create Data Access Standards: Develop and maintain data access standards and procedures across all instances, ensuring secure and controlled access to data.
  • Manage Data-Related Requests: Manage data-related requests for ServiceNow foundational data, ensuring completeness and correctness of data and data relationships.
  • Design IT Business Processes: Design, document, and manage IT business processes associated with platform foundational data source, creation, management, and retirement.
  • Coordinate Data Governance: Coordinate and assist with the execution of data governance and control requests related to enterprise governance and audit.
  • Assist DevOps and UAT Teams: Assist DevOps and UAT teams in the development of test data, ensuring accurate and reliable testing.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Design and Develop Reports: Design, develop, and regularly generate reports to communicate and monitor compliance, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze Exception Data: Analyze exception data to identify potential accuracy issues, investigate, and report on issues and remediation options.
  • Conduct Control Gap Analysis: Conduct control gap analysis to identify root causes of incorrect data and recommend remedial actions.
  • Identify Enhancements: Assist in identifying and defining needed enhancements in foundational data as well as new categories that would add value to the platform capabilities.
  • Reconcile Foundational Data: Reconcile foundational data and assist in conducting configuration audits, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Requirements
  • Excellent Knowledge of CSDM: Excellent knowledge of CSDM 3.0 and/or 4.0, with experience in implementing and managing CI Management frameworks.
  • ITIL Concepts: Excellent understanding of ITIL concepts, with ITIL V.4 Certificate a plus.
  • ServiceNow Experience: Hands-on ServiceNow experience, with architecture experience a plus.
  • Data Governance Tools: Excellent understanding of data lineage concepts and data governance tools.
  • Monitoring and Configuration Management: Very good knowledge of monitoring, configuration management, SAM, and HAM tools (e.g., SCCM, Bigfix, Dynatrace, etc.).
  • ServiceNow Integration Hub: Very good knowledge of ServiceNow Integration Hub.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience with problem-solving, analytical, and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Education: Post-secondary education with a focus on Computer Science or Engineering disciplines.
  • Relational Database Concepts: Good understanding of relational database concepts.
  • ETL Process: Good understanding of the ETL process.
