About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Senior Accounting Associate to join our team. As a key member of our A&A group, you will be responsible for managing larger and more complex engagements, advancing your technical knowledge, and developing outstanding client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compilation Engagements: Prepare working paper files and corporate income tax returns in adherence with our formal policies and procedures.
  • HST Returns: Prepare and file HST returns.
  • Accounting Research: Research accounting issues in accordance with ASPE and make recommendations on proposed accounting treatment.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with clients, team members, and managers.
  • Canada Revenue Agency: Correspond with the Canada Revenue Agency relating to corporate tax inquiries.
  • Deadline Management: Manage competing deadlines for multiple partners and managers while providing quality service to clients.

Requirements

  • CPA Designation or 5+ years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm.
  • University or College Graduate with an accounting or finance background.
  • Senior Level Experience: Minimum one year at a Senior level or two years at the Intermediate level of public accounting experience for a variety of industries, preferably in a small to mid-sized firm.
  • Client Service Skills: Strong client service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping concepts.
  • Attention to Detail: Good attention to detail.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated, results driven.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Willingness to be coached and mentored.
  • Software Experience: Experience using CaseWare and TaxPrep software, as well as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Simply Accounting.
  • Document Management: Demonstrate ability to use Document Management Tools.
  • Transportation: Has transportation available as some travel may be required.
