Position Overview

Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

As a key player in the Global Functions Technology team, you will oversee strategic initiatives within the Risk, Compliance & Data portfolio. This role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, leveraging shared resources while adhering to tight deadlines. The methodologies employed include both Agile and Iterative Waterfall approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the planning, execution, and implementation of programs to achieve strategic goals across the enterprise within established timelines, scope, and budget. Collaborate with RBC business units and service partners, including external vendors.
  • Engage directly with Risk & Compliance Change Management and various business partners. Oversee programs with significant value, complexity, and uncertainty, or manage sub-programs within larger initiatives.
  • Translate project visions into comprehensive program scopes, designs, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide Business & IT Architecture.
  • Develop, monitor, and implement project plans, ensuring timely execution of major milestones, approvals, and deliverables while mitigating risks and issues.
  • Regularly communicate project status, milestones, achievements, and budgetary updates in both formal and informal settings.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to acquire necessary equipment and technology, managing all vendor deliverables effectively.
  • Foster effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders. Provide coaching and mentorship to project managers involved in the program.
  • Collaborate with business partners to create and present project business cases to relevant approval committees.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and work with the Operational Risk team to develop mitigation strategies and monitoring plans.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in managing application development programs with annual budgets ranging from $5MM to $20MM, demonstrating expertise in project scope, time, cost, and quality management within a matrix environment.
  • Strong general management capabilities, including leadership, negotiation, communication, and team-building skills. Experience in executing Agile and Iterative projects is essential.
  • A minimum of 10 years of successful experience as an IT project manager, showcasing proven people management abilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Risk, Compliance & Data strategy initiatives.
  • Background in Financial Institutions.
  • Familiarity with PlanView and JIRA.
  • Advanced knowledge of Visio.
