Administrative Assistant, PHSA Laboratory

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As an Administrative Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Program at the assigned site and within the Lower Mainland Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Program, including data entry, transcription, and collation of consultations and histories.
- Perform secretarial and administrative duties, such as screening incoming materials, prioritizing items for individual attention, and responding to inquiries.
- Prepare documents, reports, and presentations using established software applications.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as required.
- Schedule appointments and meetings, and determine the urgency of requests.
- Set up and maintain departmental filing, and prepare correspondence and related materials.
- Provide administrative support in the review of departmental standards and procedures.
- Grade 12 graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription, and three years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 60 wpm.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
