About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter Associate to join our team at First National. As a key member of our Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the underwriting and credit decision process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and verify accuracy of required documentation related to income, down payment, and property using sound due diligence and in compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers, external partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Interact with mortgage brokers for the collection of all required documents to satisfy mortgage commitment conditions.
  • Escalate any documentation issues to the Underwriter for review and sign off.
  • Document clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system.
  • Respond to all inquiries within established turnaround times.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements are met.
Requirements
  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required.
  • Previous experience within the Financial Services sector preferred.
  • Previous experience within the Mortgage industry an asset.
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required.
