About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team at the First Nations Health Authority. As a key member of our regional team, you will play a vital role in providing communications, collaboration, and planning support to BC First Nations communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and support local community engagement activities, ensuring effective integration, organization, and leverage of engagement functions and resources to meet strategic and operational needs.
  • Provide coordination support to First Nation communities, utilizing your expertise in community engagement and development, provincial and federal health systems, and Aboriginal/First Nations health system needs.
  • Support traditional ceremonies and cultural practices, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination, driving collective success in community engagement and development initiatives.
Requirements
  • University degree with specialization in Health Sciences, Education, or Social Services, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and professional experience.
  • Relevant, recent, and considerable experience in the provision of coordination support to First Nation communities, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working with BC First Nations/Aboriginal people at a community and/or political level, including in the area of community engagement and community/organizational development.
  • Knowledge of community engagement and development, provincial and federal health systems, and Aboriginal/First Nations health system needs.
  • Knowledge of health-related issues in general and those affecting First Nation communities in particular.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
