About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kitchen Helper at Mikado Restaurant. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring that all dishes and equipment are sanitized and in good working order.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes, including dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units.
  • Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation, including loading buspans and trays, operating dishwashers, and placing dishes in storage areas.
  • Stock Management: Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Waste Management: Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure that all waste is disposed of properly.
  • Floor Care: Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Food Handling: Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit, and assist with other food handling tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Availability: Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
  • Language: English is the primary language spoken in the kitchen, and proficiency in English is required.
  • Physical Demands: The role requires standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Teamwork: Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
