Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sponsorship Manager to join our team at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for securing significant revenue to enhance and grow the operational budget for key Divisional projects, events, and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Revenue Generation: Develop and implement innovative sponsorship strategies to achieve desired revenue targets, including securing private sector cash sponsorships and government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Sponsorship Development: Create customized sponsorship structures featuring competitive rights fees, marketing, and on-site benefits to attract key corporate decision-makers.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate and close significant sponsorships with CEOs, CAOs, and Senior VPs, and develop final agreements and legal contracts.
  • Benefit Fulfillment: Assist with pre-event, on-site, and post-event benefit fulfillment and contractual obligations with sponsorships and grant funders.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and retain strategic relationships with corporate representatives, local businesses, politicians, and internal senior-level management.
  • Research and Prospect: Research foundations, corporate, and government grant opportunities and develop targeted prospecting lists to align with Divisional projects, events, and programs.
  • Presentation and Communication: Develop enticing presentations to effectively integrate corporate partners and their marketing objectives into Divisional projects, events, and programs.
  • Team Supervision: Provide supervision and direction to staff to ensure the delivery of effective and quality service relating to the responsibilities of the Sponsorship Economic Development & Culture Division.
  • Policy and Procedure: Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with provincial statutes, regulations, City, and Divisional policies accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in special events, event management, or a related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience: Considerable experience in securing major cash sponsorships and grants, benefits fulfillment, and client integration for event sponsorships, grants, and fundraising.
  • Skills: Highly developed client management skills, excellent partnership development and stewardship skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, flexibility, and ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a team.
  • Software: Highly developed MS Office Suite skills, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Legislation: Familiarity with relevant government legislation, such as occupational health and safety, labour relations, and collective agreements.
