Position Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated full-time Finance Team Leader to enhance our esteemed organization. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact between partners and clients, providing technical guidance and leadership on intricate financial matters. This role will involve mentoring junior and intermediate accountants as part of the Senior Accounting team.

This position is perfect for individuals who prioritize client service, enjoy collaborating with partners to support a varied client portfolio, and have a genuine interest in understanding both clients and their business operations. Achieving success in this role requires a strong sense of accountability, initiative, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements for business clients, review the work of Staff Accountants, and manage complex components of files
  • Ensure quality control by supervising and reviewing Compilation and Review engagements
  • Examine Corporate, Personal, and Trust income tax returns along with other tax documents
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies and irregularities in financial records and reports
  • Provide recommendations based on the analysis of reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Conduct technical research and formulate tax planning recommendations for individuals and corporations
  • Assist in executing corporate reorganizations
  • Organize and prioritize the workload of Staff Accountants, manage engagement costs, and oversee billing processes
  • Guide and support the professional growth of Staff Accountants
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their needs are met while fostering relationship development
  • Contribute innovative ideas and strategies to enhance work processes

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • CA or CPA designation, with at least 5 years of public practice experience addressing the accounting and taxation needs of private companies and their stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in compilation and review preparation
  • Experience in leading and supervising staff

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with relevant accounting frameworks and best practices in file documentation
  • In-depth knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
  • Proficient in CaseWare and Profile software
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Office
