Corporate Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller to join our team at Price Steel Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our financial operations, providing strategic guidance, and driving process improvements.

This is a senior finance role that requires a strong accounting background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. The Corporate Controller will report to the CFO and will be responsible for managing a team of finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and review monthly corporate financial statements and reporting packages.
  2. Develop and implement financial reporting packages, including variance analysis, KPIs, and MD&A for review with operations management teams.
  3. Manage year-end processes and reporting, including coordination with external accounting firms for review engagements and tax filings.
  4. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support the greater group of companies as required.
  5. Manage and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable teams, ensuring clear accountabilities and deliverables for team members.
  6. Oversight of payroll function for the company, including support for group-wide payroll initiatives.
  7. Oversight of office administration.
  8. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  9. Develop and improve business processes to create efficiencies and strengthen internal controls.
  10. Lead future ERP conversion and implementation projects as part of cross-functional teams.
  11. Support the CFO with merger and acquisition activities.
  12. Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Education and Experience

  1. Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  3. Public practice experience is considered an asset.
  4. 5+ years of post-designation experience in a senior finance role.
  5. Experience in a multi-company environment with significant intercompany transactions.
  6. Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate tax principles.
  7. Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
