About the Role

The Senior Manager - Strategic Planning is a key member of our team at Innergex Renewable Energy Inc., responsible for leading pre-construction efforts from early to advanced development stages. This role requires close collaboration with development, engineering, and major contract teams to ensure project readiness and optimization prior to initiating construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate efforts related to construction and engineering activities for projects during various development stages.
  • Develop construction and operations cost estimates in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction project managers, commercial, and major contract teams.
  • Assess class estimates required for projects based on their development stages and provide guidance to commercial and major contract teams.
  • Develop and maintain pre-construction risk registries and apply adequate contingencies to estimates.
  • Implement project governance mechanisms, including cost control tools, schedules, risk matrices, and project execution plans.
  • Participate in industry networking events to maintain the company informed of government programs, incentives, or industry trends.
  • Plan and coordinate handover activities from development to construction and from construction to operation stages.
  • In close collaboration with the major contract team, assess and implement construction strategies specific to a project.
  • Participate in project portfolio acquisition processes and coordinate due diligence efforts related to construction.
  • Ensure effective coordination and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team, primarily between development, construction, engineering, and operations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of renewable energy project development.
  • Service-oriented with a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, self-starter, and energetic.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required to ensure collaboration with different stakeholders outside of Québec on a regular basis. Spanish is an asset.
  • Experience in development and/or construction of Wind and Solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Contract negotiations, an asset.
  • Storage experience, an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy, an asset.
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite (especially Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel).

  • This position is based in the company's Longueuil (Québec) headquarters.
  • This position is a P4 level.
