Child Care Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant to join our team at the YMCA of Simcoe-Muskoka. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children to grow and thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care and support to children, including toileting, first aid, and administering medication as needed.
- Engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their safety and supervision at all times.
- Plan and implement play-based learning activities in accordance with our curriculum.
- Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
- Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Adhere to our Mission, Vision, and Values, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in early childhood education.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure program success and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
- Availability to work a minimum of 2 full days per week (6:30am-6pm) or 2 mornings and 2 afternoons.
- Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities.
- Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in all weather conditions.
