Child Care Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant to join our team at the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. As a Child Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children in our programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide personal care to children, including toileting, diaper changing, and administering medication as needed.
- Engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and implement play-based learning activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
- Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs, promoting their inclusion and participation.
- Adhere to work schedules, ensuring program ratios are maintained and providing adequate notice for scheduling changes.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days of employment.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent, in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
- Availability requirements: minimum of 2 full days per week (6:30am-6pm) or 2 mornings and 2 afternoons.
- Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities.
- Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in all weather conditions.
