Job Title: Head of HSE, Security & Emergency Response

Volkswagen Group Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team. As the Head of HSE, Security & Emergency Response, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors, as well as protecting the environment and preventing accidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Lead and manage the HSE team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensure the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors in the event of an emergency.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, maintenance, and engineering, to ensure that HSE considerations are integrated into all aspects of the business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about changing regulations and best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on HSE procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a HSE role, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management position.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective HSE programs and policies.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
