Job Title: Social Work Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Work Coordinator to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to our community.

Job Summary:

The Social Work Coordinator will be responsible for assessing client needs, developing and implementing service plans, and providing counseling and therapy to individuals and families. You will also supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess client needs and develop service plans
  • Provide counseling and therapy to individuals and families
  • Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services
  • Provide public education and consultation regarding counseling services, issues, and methods
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group
  • Advocate on client's behalf in courts or at hearings
  • Lobby for solutions to problems affecting client groups
  • Conduct social research
  • Apply for social program funding
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, or symposia
  • Provide consultation services to government and other organizations
  • Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs
Requirements:
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in social work or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and communities
