About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Library Technician to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our library services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and maintenance of our library's content and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and maintenance of our library's content and services, including subject guides, patient education publications, and educational/training content.
  • Apply plain language standards and editorial copyediting standards to ensure high-quality content.
  • Utilize HTML coding skills to create and maintain web content.
  • Manage databases and develop content management systems.
  • Assist with literature searches and provide research support to staff and patients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with counterparts within the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and external partners.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a recognized Library and Information Technician Program.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years library experience or equivalent required.
  • Recent Health Science Library experience preferred.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, HTML coding, database management, CANVA, and e-learning authoring software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property legislation and regulations, including copyright, database licensing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with a customer service focus.
  • Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within the province for assigned duties.
  • Possesses a valid Driver's License.
