Responsibilities

The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (GI NP) plays a vital role within our gastroenterology team, delivering quality care to patients. The GI NP operates under the guidance of attending physicians in a comprehensive GI practice, both in office and hospital settings, and assists with necessary procedures. This role encompasses the complete care of gastroenterology patients from admission through discharge and outpatient follow-up, including participation in evening and weekend on-call duties as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inpatient gastroenterology consultations
  • Following up with gastroenterology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Communicating lab and test results to patients as necessary
  • Providing on-call coverage and performing other related duties during emergencies

The position may involve physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently throughout working hours. There may also be potential exposure to patient body substances and hazardous materials.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a valid nursing license in New York State and hold a Master of Science degree with certification as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State, along with a minimum of one (1) year of experience. Experience in gastroenterology is preferred, and proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
