Youth Activity Coordinator

The Child Care division is vibrant, nurturing, and expanding. Are you prepared to collaborate with a team to positively impact children's lives? Flexible shifts are available during weekdays, Monday to Friday, with hours from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and/or 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Reporting to the Child Care Manager, the Activity Program Leader plays a crucial role in the Child Care team, responsible for:
- Designing and implementing high-quality program plans that reflect the Y's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, and Inclusiveness.
- Ensuring safety and supervision in compliance with provincial licensing standards.
- Fostering healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Engaging actively with children aged 5-12 as a play partner and homework assistant.
- Supporting the execution of play-based educational programming, which includes interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building activities, drama, games, team-building exercises, daily physical activity, and sports.
- Contributing to YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives.
- A minimum age of 19 years (as per provincial licensing standards).
- At least 20 hours of professional development related to children's health, nutrition, safety, development, and/or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate).
- A valid class 4 operator's license (training may be provided).
- A valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C.
- Potential for paid educational opportunities for Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certification.

- Service Orientation: Proactively identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each individual's YMCA experience. Develops action plans to address any service gaps.
- Relationship Building and Collaboration: Cultivates positive interactions, listens attentively, and communicates effectively to foster an open communication environment. Shares information, best practices, and resources with colleagues.

- Provide three professional references (e.g., Employer, Supervisor, or Colleague).
- Submit a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months prior to your start date. The YMCA will provide the necessary instructions and paperwork.
