Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct compliance reviews of tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships, and ensure adherence to foreign reporting requirements.
  • Participate in tax planning engagements and prepare technical tax memos to support our clients' needs.
  • Prepare instruction letters for corporate reorganizations, estate & post-mortem tax planning, business succession planning, and the purchase & sale of a business.
  • Conduct tax research and interpret tax legislation and proposed legislative changes to stay up-to-date on industry developments.
  • Provide technical expertise as an internal resource to staff who require tax support on client files or specific questions from clients.
  • Prepare client correspondence, including reports & analysis, discussion of technical issues and recommendations, and attending client meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with other service lines across the firm and provide assistance to other offices as required.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a University Accounting Program, or equivalent.
  • Pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm, an asset.
  • Willingness to enroll, or enrolled, in the CICA In-Depth Tax Course.
  • 2-3 years of work experience with Canadian Income Taxation.
