Position Overview

Located within a specialized mental health facility, the Forensic Psychologist plays a crucial role in a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health evaluations and rehabilitation services. This position involves working with a diverse patient population, including those found Not Criminally Responsible due to mental disorders and individuals deemed Unfit to Stand Trial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop treatment plans for patients under the jurisdiction of the Criminal Code Review Board.
  • Perform violence risk assessments and provide annual updates for disposition hearings.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and inpatient staff to deliver individual and group therapy focused on mental health and risk management.
  • Engage in clinical programming development and contribute to the enhancement of treatment protocols.
  • Receive clinical supervision until fully licensed for independent practice.

Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited program, along with completion of an accredited internship or residency.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the relevant psychological association, with a focus on forensic competency.
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnostic evaluation and cognitive assessment with adult populations.
  • Expertise in clinical forensic psychology, including training in forensic psychological assessment.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based psychological treatments for severe mental illnesses.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain professional development and ethical standards.
